Empowering Women and Girls to Overcome Injustice and Poverty

The Empowering Women and Girls to Overcome Injustice and Poverty initiative is a collaboration between Rockflower and the Hope for the Future Organization in Uganda. The project aims to provide funding to support vocational programs to improve employment opportunities for women and girls through education and training.

A small community of 50 women members, Hope for the Future is the epitome of a vibrant civil society organization. Initiated by 10 women in the community of Namusara, Uganda the project Integrates all of Rockflower’s 5 Keys.

Hope for the Future initiates programs and projects using local solutions and a holistic approach.

Through the support of vocational training for unskilled, unemployed and vulnerable women in this district, this project provides opportunities for those earning less than a dollar a day to increase earning potential to at least $3 per day.

Through the provision of sewing and knitting machines as well as facilities and trainers there is real opportunity for this small but catalytic investment to improve employment opportunities for women and girls from 3% to 8% by 2018.
